2021 Napa Valley Red Blend
55% Cabernet Franc & 45% Cabernet Sauvignon
From high atop the Vaca Mountains of Napa Valley, this bold and fruit forward wine was crafted using a blend of premium Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, cave aged for 30 months in 100% new French oak barrels. The wine then rested in bottle for two years prior to release.
This wine pays homage to my family and many of my heroes in the valley. Without their guidance and inspiration along the way, this wine would not have been possible.
I am honored to get to work with these amazing grapes, and to release this wine as the first of hopefully many from Whitlatch Cellars!
The inspiration for the logo comes from the cursive “W” of my Grandpa Lester Whitlatch, pictured above. In order to digitize the handwritten ink version and make it more bold (without the use of PhotoShop), my mother helped me by using a different method. She traced the “W” onto black construction paper, cut it out, scanned it and emailed it to me. I appreciate being able to see the edges of her scissor lines as she cut out the shape of the letter. It also reminds me of her family name—Waindle.
